New York, NY — To succeed in the game of golf, as in fashion, timing is everything. And Loro Piana knows exactly when to swing.
When the 2025 Ryder Cup arrives in New York this weekend, the storied Italian label debuts its new designs for Team Europe: each player, and the entire delegation, is dressed by Loro Piana for all official events on and off the course.
Now in its 45th edition, the Ryder Cup is a biennial contest between Europe and the United States that ranks among the most-watched sporting events in the world, drawing global audiences on par with the Olympics and the World Cup. The tournament rotates between courses on both sides of the Atlantic. It has been 90 years since the New York surrounding area last hosted the tournament. This year’s edition is staged at Bethpage Black Course in Long Island, a venue renowned for its punishing difficulty and dramatic setting — making it all the more impressive that Loro Piana is outfitting players.
This isn’t a first for the luxury Italian label, however. The Maison has long translated its elegant tailoring, meticulous design, and elevated materials into sportswear. It was in 2002, in fact, that the brand hosted its inaugural Loro Piana Cup in Turin, a one-day tournament that signaled a growing tie to golf. By 2016 it had become the official supplier of Team Europe, bringing its blend of performance fabrics to one of golf’s most prestigious stages.
This year, under captain Luke Donald, the team once again wears Loro Piana, led by four-time major winners: Rory McIlroy, 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm, and rising Norwegian star Viktor Hovland. Donald was instrumental in the uniform design development process, ensuring that understated elegance met the technical demands of competition.

Over the three-day event, players wear a rotating color palette: sky blue on Friday, kummel on Saturday, and white on Sunday, each finished with graphic shades drawn from the European flag. Watch for standout pieces such as the short-sleeved Eagle polo, cut from a stretch fabric treated for breathability and quick drying, with silver-infused fibers providing natural anti-odor protection. Also: a knitted V-neck vest in fine Wish® wool, and Lawrie trousers — a modern take on Loro Piana’s classic flat-front tailoring in Techno Wool Bistretch Rain.
For Loro Piana, the Ryder Cup is both a global showcase for its clothing and an open-air laboratory, where athletes put fabrics to the test — insights the Maison can carry forward into future product innovation.
At a time when brands are racing to align with sports beyond the stadium — tennis, Formula 1, football, golf — Loro Piana is playing the long game. The Ryder Cup might just force their hand. But if timing is everything, and theirs is impeccable, no doubt it’s chosen its moment well.
The replicas of Team Europe’s uniforms are available at three Loro Piana flagships: Madison Avenue in New York, Avenue Montaigne in Paris, and Sloane Square in London.
