Last Monday, the Olympia DUMBO’s tenth-floor tennis court, a stone’s throw from the Brooklyn Bridge, was an unexpected standing-room-only venue for some tennis. Two tennis stars — Italian Matteo Berrettini and American Taylor Fritz — were trading groundstrokes and volleys in their BOSS sportswear polos and tees. 

At first, just a few pedestrians stopped on the DUMBO ramp when they caught a glimpse of the action in a city where tennis is at a fever pitch. But as their cheers grew, so did the iPhone-toting crowd taking videos as if they were watching a professional match. 

The two weren’t exactly training for the upcoming tournament — they were on set with PLAYERS for their first official collaboration as BOSS ambassadors. 

In one look, Fritz wore a white BOSS headband, recalling his charming wardrobe malfunction during last year’s Open. “[It was a] huge match playing Djokovic, and I put my headband on backwards. The funny thing is, I didn’t notice until after the match was over, and I just saw some people talk about it.” 

As for Berrettini, who has one of the most fearsome forehands on tour, the cool backwards cap he wore with a light-blue, tennis-ball-patterned polo is referential to the sporty, yet laid-back style he’s known for during matches.
